The majority of farmers expect paddy production during the 2022 monsoon season to be lower this year compared to the previous year because of substantially lower fertilizer use.
To explore the effects of disruptions on Myanmar’s rice sector, IFPRI-Myanmar introduced the Rice Miller Survey. The survey, which includes over 400 medium- and large-scale rice millers in Ayeyarwady, Bago, and Yangon, monitors changes in business operations, paddy and rice price changes, and byproduct sales and price changes. The Rice Miller Survey was initiated in June 2020.
